Stay Home Poster #100days100commissions Entry

Back in March, the whole world stopped what they were doing and quarantined themselves to prevent the spread of the novel corona virus also known as COVID-19. The Affinity team, from the Serif parent company, sent an email out to all of their users that they will be hosting a 100 days 100 commissions challenge. I decided to participate and create an illustration using two of their products; Designer and Photo.

The illustration that I made was about capturing that very moment in time (at the time, it was in April when I created this illustration), raising awareness that everyone should stay home to flatten the curve. It was also a way promote social distancing and self-quarantine to save innocent lives. The poster design and composition was a homage to the Uncle Sam recruitment poster. After submitting my illustration to Affinity team, I got an email stating that, my project did not advance any further, unfortunately. After hearing such news, I felt a bit down, however, at the same time, I felt happy that I was able create this illustration on my free time. In addition, I’ve learned so much about using different tools and functions in Affinity Designer by working on this illustration project. Overall, it was great learning experience and I would definitely continue using Affinity products for future projects.
